Organisation
The CSGPN is one of two GP Networks within the Central Sydney area. The Network was incorporated on 23 June 2000 as a public company limited by guarantee. By agreement with the former administrator SSWAHS, full control of assets and office were handed over on 1 September 2000. As an incorporated entity, the Board controls Divisional activities.
The Central Sydney GP Network was formed in 2007 after the amalgamation of the former Central Sydney DGP and Canterbury DGP.
Governance
(Board Members)
Encompasses the elected Board of Directors. The Board currently has six elected GP Directors and one community Director. Elections are conducted every 12 months by a postal vote of the CSGPN Ordinary Members.

The Network runs a number of funded programs, list of which can be found on the Services section of this website.
Business Administration
Business Administration is coordinated by the Deputy CEO. It provides the infrastructure support to the operations of GP Programs and Governance.
Network Demographics / Basic Demographics

ABS Census Snapshot: Metro South West Region
Total population for the year 2008 is 522,981. Growth is estimated at 4.30% which is below the State average of 5.5%. Canada Bay experienced the highest rate of growth in the Inner West at 6.30%.
Older People
- Proportion of population over 65 (12.6%) is slightly lower than State average (13.1%).
- Highest concentration of over 65s: Canada Bay (15%) Ashfield (15%) and Burwood (14.3%).
- Growth between Census counts (2.2%) is significantly lower than State average (9.2%) with highest growth in Canada Bay (6.2%)
- Most significant actual increases in Canterbury and Canada Bay.
People with a disability
- Based on estimated numbers of people with a disability (2001), there is a slightly higher percentage of people with a disability in Canterbury (18.9%) Burwood (18.3%) and Strathfield 18.2 (%).
Ageing Carers
- Based on the assumption that approx 20.5% of carers over 65 care for a person under 65 there would be 2,443 primary carers over 65, 7,189 and 502 primary carers over 65 caring for a person under 65.
Aboriginal People
- Proportion of people from indigenous background (0.7%) is lower than State average (1.9%).
- According to the 2001 Census there was a decrease in the Aboriginal population of -7.9% between Census counts.
- Canada Bay was the only LGA to experience growth.
- Census figures may not be an accurate reflection of indigenous population.
People born in Non English Speaking Country
- Proportion of people from NESC (33.5%) is significantly higher than the State average (16%).
- Highest concentration in Strathfield (43.6%) Burwood (41.8%) Ashfield (36.3%) and Marrickville (30.5%).
- Percentage of people who speak another language and have poor English proficiency is high (8.6%) compared with State average (3%) and Canterbury experiences highest rate (12.9%) and Burwood (10.2%).
GP Profile
The Network currently has 685 GPs on its database practising within Central Sydney. There are 315 practices within the area of which 184 are solo practices.There is a ratio of one GP for every 731 residents and 42% of our GPs are female.
